Lance Reddick’s cause of death has been revealed as heart disease.
According to a death certificate allegedly obtained by TMZ, the “John Wick” actor, who passed last month at 60 years old, died as a result of ischemic heart disease and atherosclerotic coronary artery disease.
The death certificate also states that his body will be cremated.
However, Reddick’s representatives have refuted the publicized cause of death on behalf of “The Wire” actor’s wife, Stephanie Reddick, telling The Post that “no medical examination of Lance during his lifetime ever indicated such conditions.”
“Lance was the most physically fit person I’ve ever known,” his spokesperson told The Post. “He exercised daily at his home gym, including extensive cardio work, and the availability of gym facilities was a contractual requirement for his work away from home. He ate as if a dietician was monitoring his every meal.”
“The information appearing on the death certificate is wholly inconsistent with his lifestyle,” his representative continued. “On behalf of Stephanie Reddick, the death certificate information is not corroborated and is inconsistent with the facts known to the family.”
Atherosclerosis, a type of arteriosclerosis per Mayo Clinic, is a condition where the arteries become narrow due to plaque build-up, resulting in coronary artery disease.
“The Wire” star died March 17 after collapsing in his Studio City home that morning. At the time, his representatives told The Post that he passed suddenly due to natural causes.
“Lance will be greatly missed,” his spokesperson said in an emailed statement.
TMZ reported that Reddick’s wife, Stephanie, discovered him collapsed in the backyard and phoned 911.
After participating in a press tour for the film, Reddick was absent from the “John Wick: Chapter 4” New York City premiere last month just days prior to his passing. After his death, his co-stars donned blue ribbons on the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the action-packed film.
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken at the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Lance Reddick,” actor Keanu Reeves and director Chad Stahelski told Deadline in a joint statement. “He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly.”
Lionsgate, the studio producing the “John Wick” franchise, issued a statement about the loss of the beloved actor.
“The world of Wick would not be what it is without Lance Reddick and the unparalleled depth he brought to Charon’s humanity and unflappable charisma. Lance leaves behind an indelible legacy and hugely impressive body of work, but we will remember him as our lovely, joyful friend and Concierge. We’re stunned and heartbroken, and our deepest condolences go to his beloved family and his fans all around the world,” the production company said in a statement.
He was slated to appear in multiple upcoming projects in 2023, including the “White Men Can’t Jump” reboot featuring rapper Jack Harlow and the Netflix film “Shirley.” Reddick was also planning to reprise his “John Wick” role as Charon in the spin-off “Ballerina” starring actress Ana de Armas.
The “Oz” actor was also a talented musician and singer. In 2007, he released an album titled “Contemplations and Remembrances,” and regularly posted snippets of himself singing and playing the piano on social media.

At the time of his passing, Reddick’s representatives requested that the family’s privacy be respected.
