Christmas has come early with the release of the official trailer for “Home Sweet Home Alone,” the Disney+ reboot of the original 1990 classic holiday flick “Home Alone.”

This Christmastime comedy centers around 10-year-old Max Mercer (played by “Jojo Rabbit” star Archie Yates), who is accidentally left behind by his family as they leave for vacation and must face off against inexperienced robbers Pam (Ellie Kemper) and Jeff (Rob Delaney) in defense of his home.

The trailer for this new film suggests that it will be less like a follow-up film and more like a beat-for-beat remake of the John Hughes-penned original starring Macaulay Culkin. Yates’ character is shown hitting all the familiar beats, like gorging on junk food, taking down Santa-clad invaders with impressive Nerf guns, setting elaborate house traps and doling out all the crotch hits one could ever expect to see.

But not only does “Home Sweet Home Alone” appear to honor the original film in its storyline and execution, it directly brings back favorite characters, like Kevin’s big brother. Devin Ratray, who played Buzz in the original, makes a brief cameo in the trailer as a cop with a badge that says “McCallister.”

There might be some other notable throwback cameos as well, according to the Sun, but Disney+ will be keeping those under wraps until “Home Sweet Home Alone” premieres on the streaming service Nov. 12.

The first new installment of the beloved “Home Alone” franchise since the 2012 ABC Family movie “Home Alone: The Holiday Heist,” “Home Sweet Home Alone” is written by Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell (both of “Saturday Night Live”) and directed by Dan Mazer (“Dirty Grandpa”).
