Frederic Fekkai is quietly closing the doors of its flagship hair salon on Fifth Avenue, The Post has learned. And some 60 stylists who work at the Midtown location will lose their jobs, according to a government filing.
It’s all because the posh beauty shop is a fourth-floor subtenant of Henri Bendel, the 123-year-old luxury department store at 712 Fifth Ave., which announced last month it’s closing its doors for good after the holidays.
“Because we sublease our Fifth Avenue space in Henri Bendel’s from L Brands, our Fifth Avenue lease is impacted,” Kimberly Callet, vice president of salons, told The Post.
L Brands, the retail conglomerate run by billionaire Les Wexner, said in September it was pulling the plug on Bendel as it scrambles to fix its struggling Victoria’s Secret chain. All 23 Bendel locations will be shuttered, according to Columbus, Ohio-based L Brands.
Fekkai’s flagship, which has been coiffing hair for a dozen years, will close in January.
Frederic Fekkai’s celebrity founder and namesake has styled the tresses of such stars as Kim Basinger, Claudia Schiffer and Renee Zellweger.
The company operates two smaller salons in the city, as well as four others elsewhere.
Fekkai is “working on a number of options for our Fifth Avenue team and clients,” Callet added.
Stylings start at $145 at the Fifth Avenue location, where clients can also order a “Fekkai Night Out,” which includes a blowout, manicure and makeup application for $285 a pop.
